THE INDICTMENT FOR ATTACK ON TEOFIL PANCIC

Belgrade, August 30, 2010 (Blic) - The First Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade brought the indictment against Milos Mladenovic and Danilo Zuza for violent behavior toward Teofil Pancic, a journalist of the "Vreme" weekly magazine, causing injuries to him.

"The Prosecutor proposed the extension of their detention. They carried out violent act toward the journalist, violating the public tranquility and disturbing the public order", the spokesman of the Republic Prosecutor's Office Tomo Zoric stated.

Zoric explained that sentence from six months to five years was stipulated for violent criminal acts.

"When it comes to the protection of journalists, the position of the Prosecutor's Office is clear. Journalists enjoy legal and criminal protection; the Prosecutor will react whenever they are attacked, seeking appropriate legal execution for perpetrators", Zoric pointed out.

Mladenovic and Zuza have been charged for the planned physical attack on Teofil Pancic on July 24, around 11 p.m., on the public bus in Zemun.
