MAYOR STATEMENT BROUGHT CHARGES TO LOCAL TELEVISION

Kragujevac, February 16, 2011 (Blic, Srbija) - City Committee of the Democratic Party in Kragujevac has filed a complaint with the RBA against the Radio Television Kragujevac for broadcasting a speech of the Kragujevac Mayor Veroljub Stevanovic after the last session of the City Assembly, which this party evaluated as "hate speech". The RTK Management has two more days to send a response to the RBA. This media may also be facing the penalty scaling from the pecuniary compensation to the revocation of license.

Democratic Party Official Vladimir Jovanovic said that "the complaint against the city's broadcaster came, before all, because the mayor insulted the party".

RTK director and Editor in Chief Jovanka Marovic said that "Veroljub Stevanovic was addressing the public not as a representative of certain political party, but as the mayor and the representative of all citizens".
