EDITOR IN CHIEF OF THE CACANSKE NOVINE CONVICTED

Belgrade, March 30, 2011 (Blic) - Independent Journalists Association of Serbia (IJAS) expressed deep concerns over the verdict of the Primary Court in Cacak which convicted Stojan Markovic for libel and fined him with 100.000 dinars.

In its statement, IJAS reminded that in April last year Markovic had been penalized for anguish and suffering due to damaged honor and reputation of Velimir Ilic, after Cacanske Novine had published the texts "The Time for Settling the Bills has Come: Davidovic, Jocic, Sarancic... the Next one beReady..." and the satire "The Impotent Mandarin".
