"STATUS OF JOURNALISTS UNKNOWN TO DACIC“

Belgrade, May 11, 2011 (B92) - UNS says that it is worrying that the Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic does not know that journalists have been granted the status of persons whose work has public importance. He said that the stiffer penalties for attackers of B92 cameraman would have followed "if journalists' position was defined as persons whose work was socially important"

UNS stated that what arised from the Dacic statement was that he was not familiar with the fact that on August 31, 2009 the amendments to the Criminal Code had been adopted, prescribing stiffer penalties for attackers on journalists.
