MATIC: NO WAY OF BRINGING GOOGLE TO SERBIA

Belgrade, June 3, 2011 (B92) - There is no possibility for some IT giants like Google to come to Serbia at this moment, while the arrival of PayPal is more certain, Jasna Matic says.

"We keep trying to bring PayPal", added the State Secretary for the Digital agenda.

Commenting the fact that Google has recently opened a regional office in Croatia and elaborating on whether IT companies had been avoiding Serbia, Matic said that "for a long time, Serbia had had a high political risk assessment".

"We should not forget that Croatia is probably becoming an EU member next year, and that we still need a number of years to get there", she adds.

Matic said that Serbia was constantly trying to bring PayPal, but stressed that it was a private company making its own decisions.

Answering the question what hindered this company to start business here, Matic said that the main issue for them was the purchasing power of our market and was it worth it to set up operations here.
