KRAGUJEVAC CRITICIZES THE MEDIA STRATEGY

Kragujevac, June 7, 2011. (Danas) - The Kragujevac Assembly criticized yesterday the Draft Strategy of the Development of the System of Public Information in Serbia because the regional public service broadcasters had not been mentioned in this Draft. As said in their statement, the Draft Media Strategy, delivered by the seven-member working group, represented a step back in comparison to the previous study as well as standards reached during the public discussion on that topic.

"Privatization of media, as well as abandoning the idea on local and regional public service broadcasters, is nothing but the sign of losing the interest in reforms and development of the society and business climate in the media sphere", said in this statement.

The deputies of the Kragujevac Assembly have once supported the "Kragujevac Initiative", that had been the most vocal advocate of establishing regional public service broadcasters.
