CABLE BEAT ANTENNA, PINK BEAT RTS

Belgrade, June 10, 2013 (Danas-Biznis) - The number of households in Serbia that have cable TV, IPTV or other platform enabling more TVchannels has reached 60 percent.

In 2012, the number of households with cable and terrestrial TV was equal. It is also interesting that cable TV in Serbia is still spreading, it was said at the conference in the Danas Conference Center "Cable programs and advertising market in Serbia".

According to the audience research results by the Nielsen Agency, TV Pink has come in front of the first channel of RTS this year, while Prva TV is following in the third place. The most watched cable channel is Pink 2, then Ultra and Minimax, followed by the Discovery Channel, Sport Club and Eurosport.

Speaking about the trends of cable television in the country, Predrag Lozovic from the agency Nielsen Audience Measurement Serbia said that the largest number of users of television with more channels was 87 percent of households in Belgrade, 66 in northern Vojvodina and 60 percent of households in central Serbia.

Advisor at the Ministry of Culture and Media Aleksandar Gajovic said that people with cable TV wrongly believed that they were paying two TV fees. According to him, cable operators are being paid for "bringing the service to every consumer", while TV fee for public service broadcaster is "a requirement applicable in all European countries".
