DINKIC: LYNCH CALL OF TABLOIDS

Belgrade, June 11, 2013 (B92) - Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic called on the president of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic today to urgently call the session of the National Security Council since "some individuals from the police had started to judge journalists and call for lynching".

Dinkic also urged the director of the Police Milorad Veljovic and Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic to take all necessary measures for urgent investigation of all claims published in the "Informer" newspaper.

Denying the writings of the "Informer", that he was suspected of being involved in the "robbery of the century" and embezzlement of one billion dollars smuggled out to Cyprus, the minister said "it is a known secret that there are certain individuals in the police who are releasing various information to the press".

In the president's cabinet, however, say that Tomislav Nikolic will not call an extraordinary session of the Council for National Security upon request of minister Dinkic, since the writings of the newspapers in Belgrade have not jeopardized in any way the security of the state.

"President Nikolic will never interfere in the work of media, as he did not in the past when he was himself the subject of media headlines", says in the statement from the President's office.
