STATE MUST PAY 650 M TO SOS CHANNEL

Belgrade, August 13, 2013 (Danas) - The Commercial Court in Belgrade passed a decision yesterday ordering RATEL and RBA to pay 650 million RSD to SOS Channel, the daily Danas reported.

The court acted upon the lawsuit of the sports TV channel SOS that had filed a motion against the regulators for compensation of damages caused by allocating a frequency in a public competition back in 2006 belonging to the Romanian national TV broadcaster.

The court has now established that the regulators were aware of the fact that the channel in the matter was unusable even before it was allocated, but they decided to allocate it to SOS channel nevertheless.

RBA and RATEL have announced their appeal to the decision of the Commercial Court, as the decision is neither final nor effective.
