TV FEE PAID BY ONLY ONE THIRD OF POPULATION

Belgrade, September 2, 2013 (Politika) - Although many may have been looking forward to ending of the payment of TV subscription fee, the money for RTS and RTV will be ensured by deducting it from the amount allocated to meet the needs of citizens in the already "thin" budget.

The obligation to pay TV subscription fee for RTS is still valid, as provided by the still applicable law, despite the announcements coming from the ruling structures that it would be abolished in line with the promise made to citizens some time ago.

"People must understand that the law is applicable until amended, so is the obligation to pay TV fee. In addition, they must understand what budget financing means. The country does not have the surplus, so the funds for financing public service broadcasting must be taken from pensioners, workers in public companies, social securities", attorney at law Slobodan Kremenjak, expert in media laws, said.
