ILLUSTRATED GLOSSARY OF CORRUPTION
Belgrade, 20. 03.2014 (Fonet) - As of 24 March 2014, 25 television and 40 radio stations across Serbia, members of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) network, will broadcast the series 'Illustrated Dictionary of Corruption'. During four weeks of broadcasting, each of the 20 episodes will explain one key term concerning corruption and the fight against it.
The main goal of the project is to contribute to a more effective prevention and fight against corruption by a more active involvement of citizens and media in this process, it was said at today's launching of the series. The series will explain the key terms through local stories filmed in different cities. With this project ANEM intends to help citizens better identify cases of corruption in their local communities and encourage them to participate in the fight against it.
Within the scope of the project ‘Illustrated Glossary of Corruption' the Electronic Dictionary of Corruption will be produced and published on the ANEM website, ANEM President Milorad Tadic announced.
Project consultant Cedomir Cupic said that systemic corruption is the most dangerous form of corruption, the most difficult to deal with, and that it occurs when all forms of corruption enter the four strategic systems - the political, economic, social and the value system. When corruption enters those systems, a so-called corrupt way of life is created, in which we now find ourselves, Cupic said and added that the fight against corruption needs a resolute political will. Cupic does not believe that systemic corruption will be dealt with until a law on the origin of the property is passed and he pointed out that sanctions for corruption should be harsh, with a small range between the prescribed sanctions.
The project ‘Illustrated Glossary of Corruption' is implemented in partnership with the Anti-Corruption Agency, and is financially supported by the European Union.
