Tasovac on offshore-based media owners
"There is no EU standard restricting this;" Tasovac said during a session of the parliamentary committee on culture and information, at which the latest Anti-Corruption Council report on media ownership structures and media control was presented.
When a set of media laws was in the process of being adopted last August, no objections were made to the provision under which some media may be owned by offshore companies, the minister said.
A large number of objections from the Anti-Corruption Council report have been dealt with through legislative activity, he said, citing the example of entry into the media register.
The registration process started in February and lasts until August, Tasovac said, noting that unregistered media outlets will not be able to take part in competitions for co-funding of media content.
