IT'S IMPERATIVE TO CONDUCT A FULL INVESTIGATION OF THE YESTERDAY'S INCIDENT IN FRONT OF THE B92 BUILDING

Police spokesperson Dragana Kajganic confirmed in a statement for B92 that the plain-clothes policemen were on duty near the B92 building given the “increased risk of incidents in relation to the show”. She went on to say that the police thought it was a firecracker dropped from one of the nearby buildings. An investigation at the scene of the incident was, however, conducted as late as early this morning, whereas the police has failed to present any new details about the last night’s incident to the public so far. B92 has said that even if it turns out that these are not firearms shots, the incident still amounts to a blatant attempt to intimidate the guests, journalists and editors of this media company, as well as to stifle the freedom to disseminate information for the benefit of the general public and freedom of expression itself. Freedom to publish and impart information and diverse opinions is a cornerstone of any democratic society. Intimidation of nonconformists and those who think differently with the intention to prevent the citizens of Serbia from acquainting themselves with different ideas and views present on the social and political scene is utterly unacceptable. In the interest of the safety of our guests, employees and associates, as well as in the interest of the general public’s right to full information, which is their elementary right, B92 shall, therefore, persistently insist on resolving the yesterday’s incident and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
