ANEM ALARM: The Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated a case regarding the attack on Nemanja Šarović.
The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) strongly condemns the physical attack on the host of KTV from Zrenjanin, Nemanja Šarović, who is also the president of the political movement "Love, Faith, Hope," during the filming of a segment about the alleged illegal call centers of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Following ANEM's report, the Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has opened a case and started gathering information about the circumstances of the attack.

The KTV manager, Šarović, was attacked on October 20 at a bus stop next to the highway in New Belgrade while filming a report on alleged illegal call centers operated by the SNS. Accompanying him on the ground were the director, the editor-in-chief, and a cameraman from KTV, Danijel Radić.
The KTV team was following GSP buses arriving from Novi Banovci, which, according to this television's findings, were transporting individuals engaged in the SNS call center located in the hangars of Tehnomanija in New Belgrade.
When one of the buses stopped at the bus stop to let passengers out, Šarović approached to film a segment and ask questions to those present. According to him, while standing on the sidewalk, filming passengers disembarking from the bus and asking them questions, an unknown man approached him from behind, struck him forcefully on the arms, and knocked his mobile phone out of his hand, causing it to fall onto the asphalt. Šarović picked up the phone, turned around, and attempted to film the attacker, who then physically assaulted him again, grabbed the phone, and began to flee.
Šarović ran after the attacker and caught up with him. During the struggle for the phone, both fell to the ground, resulting in Šarović injuring his left elbow. According to a statement from KTV, Danijel Radić approached and filmed the attacker's face up close, while Šarović and Radić demanded he return the phone and warned him that he was being recorded. After the physical struggle, the attacker dropped the device, which Šarović managed to recover. KTV's statement also noted that the attacker, realizing he had been recorded and could be identified, attempted to turn the situation around by accusing Šarović of hitting him. Šarović received medical assistance at the Emergency Center and later that same day provided a statement at the Police Administration in Stari Grad.
ANEM demands that the relevant authorities urgently identify the attacker, whose face, according to KTV, was captured in multiple video recordings. We call on the relevant authorities to investigate any potential connections between the attack and the filming of the report on alleged illegal call centers operated by the SNS, as well as to verify claims regarding the organized transportation of activists by public city transport buses.
We welcome the fact that the Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has already opened a case and begun gathering information, with the expectation that the process will be conducted efficiently and that the public will be informed of its outcome. Any physical attack and attempt to obstruct the recording of events in the public interest requires an urgent response from the relevant institutions.
We remind that during the past two years, the KTV team has faced physical assaults, threats, damage to equipment, and interference while reporting on multiple occasions. Šarović has been detained several times while reporting. Recently, ANEM reacted to the police's treatment of the KTV team in Zrenjanin when, according to available recordings, police officers physically pushed team members and obstructed their reporting from a support event for the list "Aleksandar Vučić - United Serbia." Despite numerous reports and reactions, to date, according to the information available to us, none of the previous physical attacks have led to the prosecution of those responsible.
