"Project co-financing of media has faced a fiasco": Media and journalism associations have sent recommendations to the Ministry for changes to the process.
This year, project co-financing of media content in Serbia has experienced a complete failure. As a result, journalism and media associations have today sent an official letter to the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications with recommendations for improving the entire process, as stated during the presentation of the Analysis of the Project Co-Financing Process of Media Content and Recommendations, organized by the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) at the Press Center of the Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS).

The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) invites representatives from the media, non-governmental and international organizations, diplomatic missions, and other societal stakeholders to present the Analysis of Project Co-Financing of Media Content in Serbia for 2026, along with joint recommendations from media and journalism associations for the improvement of this process, which will officially be submitted to the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications.

Project co-financing of media content in Serbia has become a meaningless process in which funds are allocated only to a limited number of media outlets and non-governmental organizations. Participants in a two-day discussion on project co-financing of media, organized by the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), agreed that the members of the committees evaluating projects lack sufficient expertise and that the system for scoring media professionals is inadequate. Representatives from 40 local media outlets participated in the discussion.
