The meeting of the members of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists with journalists and prosecutors from Belgrade was held in Belgrade on June 13 with the support of the OSCE Mission in Serbia.

The new episode of the series "Press Don't Shoot" discusses the frequent cases in which individuals with concealed faces seize journalists' phones, prohibit them from recording certain parts of the city and events, threaten and insult them, all in the presence of police, who have not reacted to any of these attacks.

The focus is also on the cases of journalists Ana Lalić and Jelena Spasić, who were threatened by individuals via social media, and subsequently placed under house arrest, from which both escaped without the journalists being informed about it. We also raise the question: If laws exist but are not enforced – are private lawsuits the only form of protection for journalists?

As one of the largest socio-political crises in Serbia unfolds, propaganda intensifies, and the right to accurate information becomes increasingly endangered. In the latest episode of the show "Press – Don't Shoot," we discuss the blockade of RTS, attacks on journalists, spy software implanted in journalists' phones, as well as the inability of journalists to get answers about who set up tents in front of Pioneer Park and the National Assembly of Serbia, and why.

When a journalist becomes a target, the public loses, and the truth suffers.

A shot at a journalist is not just a shot at a person, but also at freedom of speech. It is a shot at the truth. Endangering the safety of journalists is also an infringement on fundamental human rights, such as the right to timely, accurate, and objective information.

That is why Insajder Television is launching the program "PRESS – Don’t Shoot," which focuses on issues of importance for the safety of journalists, as well as the realization of the public interest, which includes the professional work of the media.

The ANEM series of online video training, presentations, and discussions aimed at improving journalist safety is part of the project by the Association of Independent Electronic Media titled “Building a System for Prevention and Emergency Response in Cases of Threats and Attacks on Journalists in Serbia,” which is supported by the European Union Delegation in the Republic of Serbia.

There are twice as many media workers diagnosed with mental disorders due to their profession compared to the general population, a recent OSCE study has shown.

Every day, for many years now, a large number of journalists receive threats solely and exclusively because they perform their jobs objectively and impartially.
