A shot at a journalist is not just a shot at a person, but also at freedom of speech. It is a shot at the truth. Endangering the safety of journalists is also an infringement on fundamental human rights, such as the right to timely, accurate, and objective information.

The ANEM series of online video training, presentations, and discussions aimed at improving journalist safety is part of the project by the Association of Independent Electronic Media titled “Building a System for Prevention and Emergency Response in Cases of Threats and Attacks on Journalists in Serbia,” which is supported by the European Union Delegation in the Republic of Serbia.

There are twice as many media workers diagnosed with mental disorders due to their profession compared to the general population, a recent OSCE study has shown.

Every day, for many years now, a large number of journalists receive threats solely and exclusively because they perform their jobs objectively and impartially.
