The representative of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), Saša Mirković, stated today that the renewed process of selecting members of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) "is not progressing in a positive direction" and noted that it resembles the previous, annulled process, when seven candidates withdrew due to irregularities.

As part of the project "System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists," the Association of Independent Electronic Media, along with partners the Center for the Development of Local Media (CRLM) from Požarevac and Insider TV, aims to enhance the system for the protection of journalists and media workers. One of the project's activities is the preparation of a report by CRLM on the state of local media, addressing both security and financial aspects, as well as any other relevant factors impacting the independence and professionalism of the media.

The research was conducted within the framework of the project "Strengthening Media Capacity for Media Sector Reform in Serbia," supported by the European Commission (contract no. 2022/441-670), and is being implemented by the Media Association, the Association of Online Media (AOM), the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (NDNV), the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS), the Business Association of Local and Independent Media "Local Press," and the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation during the period from February 2023 to January 2025.
