ANEM's Mission and Strategic Goals
Overview of ANEM's core mission, long-term objectives, and strategic priorities in advocating for media freedom and supporting independent journalism in Serbia.

The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization established to achieve goals in the area of promoting and advancing freedom of thought and expression, freedom, professionalism, and independence of public media, particularly electronic media, in accordance with the highest internationally recognized norms, principles, and standards in this field.
ANEM's network consists of radio and TV stations and online media across Serbia. The members of the Association are business entities that are founders of independent electronic public media.
MISSION AND VISION
Since its establishment, ANEM's mission has been to protect independent media from political and other pressures; strengthen the position of professional electronic media through networking; contribute to the establishment of a politically independent legal framework and a functional economic environment for the development of electronic media; and contribute to the development and improvement of professional and technical standards in the media sphere, so that media can respond to the needs of the audience and serve the public interest.
The vision of ANEM is to contribute to the enactment and adequate implementation of media laws, to familiarize media with the highest professional journalistic and technical standards, to assist stations in becoming profitable and economically independent, while not undermining the principle of freedom of expression, and to enhance cooperation with associations and media in the region and beyond. ANEM's vision is a reformed and functional media system in which media fulfill their social role and that enables the realization of freedom of expression in accordance with European and international standards.
ANEM's mission is to create conditions through its activities for the role of media in the democratization of society, as well as to foster a favorable environment for the development of the media sector, particularly through public advocacy in the area of reforming the media regulatory framework and creating media public policy.
The general goals of the Association include improving the media regulatory framework, ensuring a stable and reformed media sphere, and securing the sustainability of electronic media through the development of a favorable media environment that allows for media growth. To achieve these goals, ANEM has developed various public advocacy methods over the years.
Today, the Association aims to continue using these methods to protect the interests of its members, as well as other media and the entire media sector in Serbia.

- Advocating for a transparent and lawful process of project co-financing for media content
- Consistent application of the Media Strategy, the Electronic Media Law, the Law on Public Information and Media, and the Law on Public Media Services

- Public advocacy in the area of public policy creation and reforming the media regulatory framework

- Developing cooperation with partners from the media sector, the non-governmental sector, and other stakeholders interested in media development, as well as with media organizations of similar orientations from abroad
- Highlighting the inaction of relevant institutions in cases of attacks, threats, and pressures on journalists, as well as activities aimed at ensuring the safety of media employees
- Monitoring the regularity of the project co-financing process for media content and advocating for a more transparent and higher quality process of budget fund allocation
- Activities related to the selection of members of the REM Council
