ANEM conducted a safety training session at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.
The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) organized a one-day free training on journalist safety for the university teaching staff of the Journalism Department at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.

The aim of the training conducted by experienced journalist and trainer Branko Čečen is to systematize fundamental knowledge related to the safety of (future) journalists and media workers, legal aspects, institutional practices, and case studies in this field, as well as to initiate the development of a curriculum for a potentially new course in journalism studies that would address these now essential issues.
The one-day training is intended to facilitate the exchange of experiences and expand knowledge that would assist faculty members in educating future journalism graduates.
This type of workshop highlights the potential dangers from the cyber realm and in the field, during reporting from demonstrations, unpredictable and dramatic events, natural disasters, and emergency situations that media representatives encounter on a daily basis.
One of the desired outcomes of this training is to define internal procedures at media studies faculties that would facilitate coordination regarding the safety of students and their professors, as well as potential legal protection.
The training was conducted as part of the project “Improving the Systems and Mechanisms for Prevention and Response to Threats to the Safety and Lives of Female and Male Journalists in Serbia,” supported by the European Union. Prior workshops were held at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš, the Faculty of Media and Communications, and the Faculty of Sports at the "Union - Nikola Tesla" University.
