Second session of the REM Council: The president has not been elected again.
Members of the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) reached an agreement today, following a two-hour discussion during the continuation of the constitutive session, on two candidates for the president of that body - Dubravka Valić Nedeljković and Miloš Garić. However, after two rounds of voting, as Valić Nedeljković stated to the media, a president was not elected.

Seven out of eight members of the Council attended the meeting, as Ira Prodanov Krajišnik reported that she was absent due to illness.
As Valić Nedeljković stated, there were two votes for the president of the REM Council, but no agreement was reached. In the first round, Miloš Garić received four votes, while she received three, which was repeated in the second round.
Members of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) today agreed, after a two-hour discussion at the continuation of the constitutive meeting, on two candidates for president of the body - Dubravka Valić Nedeljković and Miloš Garić. As Valić Nedeljković stated, there were two votes for the president of the REM Council, but no agreement was reached. In the first round, Miloš Garić received four votes, while she received three, which was repeated in the second round.
"We will continue our work; the next meeting is scheduled for the second half of August," she said.
Garić expressed regret that they did not reach a solution on the first agenda item today.
"Not because I was not elected, but because this is important for REM, for the public, for the state, for the media. We were not successful; we all feel an exceptional responsibility; it is uncomfortable for us, at least for me. I must thank all the colleagues who nominated me," said Garić.
As confirmed by an N1 reporter, the meeting was open to the media for nearly two hours, after which the chairperson Dubravka Valić Nedeljković announced a break after which a vote for the president of the REM Council was to take place.
The majority of the time was spent discussing whether the public should be involved, and one of the candidates, Miloš Garić, also presented an exposé.
The Council members also discussed whether they should change the candidates for the president of the Council who were voted on last time.
As an argument for this proposal, it was pointed out that they did not receive enough votes to be elected, so new candidates should be given a chance.
Mileva Malešić withdrew her candidacy in accordance with that stance, but Miloš Garić's candidacy remained on the table, as other members of the REM Council insisted on it.
Rodoljub Šabić proposed Dubravka Valić Nedeljković as a candidate for president of the REM Council, which she accepted.
What happened at the previous constitutive meeting of REM?
Let us recall that the president of the REM Council was not elected on July 20 during the first constitutive meeting of that body, after two candidates - Miloš Garić and Mileva Malešić received the same number of votes, four each, which is insufficient for election.
The first constitutive meeting of the REM Council was held after four elected members of the REM Council, who had previously resigned from their positions, announced that after adopting the authentic interpretation of the Law on Electronic Media, they decided to participate in the work of that body.
These include Dubravka Valić Nedeljković, Ira Prodanov Krajišnik, Mileva Malešić, and Rodoljub Šabić. The other four members of the REM Council are Stevica Smederevac, Milan Petković, Miloš Garić, and Snežana Miljković.
