Report on the Work of the Permanent Working Group for Journalist Safety for the Year 2024

The Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists (SRG) continued its implementation of numerous activities and projects aimed at improving the safety of journalists in Serbia throughout 2024.

The public is well aware that this body was established in 2017 by the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT), the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia (MUP), and all relevant journalistic and media associations (the Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia, the Journalists' Association of Serbia, the Independent Journalists' Society of Vojvodina, the Media Association, the Association of Independent Electronic Media, and the Online Media Association).

The OSCE Mission in Serbia has been participating in the work of the SRG since its inception, and in cooperation with its members, has supported and implemented over 50 activities to execute the Cooperation Agreement and measures for improving the safety of journalists from 2016, as well as three Action Plans (2018 – 2019, 2021 – 2022, and 2023 – 2025).
