Candidates called on the members of the Assembly of Serbia to vote for the complete Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM).

The political decision for the ruling majority not to elect a candidate in any area would represent a nullification of everything achieved so far in the process of electing members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM), as well as a complete denial of the efforts of all involved actors to carry out the process in accordance with minimal legal standards, states a letter from 12 candidates for the REM Council.

Candidates called on the members of the Assembly of Serbia to vote for the complete Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM).

We are forwarding a letter sent by 12 candidates for the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) to the President of the National Assembly and the Members of Parliament:

“We welcome the decision of the Committee for Culture and Information of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to bring the process of electing members of the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media back within legal frameworks by adopting a list of candidates that will be presented to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. This marks a significant step toward respecting the law and fundamental democratic principles.

We urge you, as representatives of the highest legislative body in the Republic of Serbia, to conclude the process of electing members of the REM Council in accordance with the results achieved in this process, which has lasted for more than a year, by voting on the complete composition of the Council, namely by electing all nine members of the REM Council.

A political decision by the ruling majority not to select a candidate in any area would represent a nullification of everything achieved so far in the process of electing members of the REM Council, as well as a complete denial of the efforts of all involved actors to carry out the process in accordance with minimal legal standards.

We are convinced that the election of the entire composition of the REM Council will be a significant step towards restoring citizens' trust in institutions,” the letter states, signed by:

**Đorđe Vlajić**, candidate from journalistic associations
**Gordana Predić**, candidate from independent institutions
**Antonela Riha**, candidate from the association whose goals are the realization of freedom of expression
