Committee: The new competition for four members of the REM Council has been canceled; there were no applications.
The decision to initiate the procedure for proposing candidates for the election of members of the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) dated December 29, 2025, has been revoked, it was decided today at the meeting of the Assembly's Committee on Culture and Information.

The Chairwoman of the Committee for Culture and Information, Nevena Đurić, stated that no applications for the election of members of the REM Council had been received by the deadline for submitting candidacies, which was January 18, 2026.
The decision to initiate the procedure for proposing candidates was made in the period preceding the New Year's and Christmas holidays, on December 29, 2025, when timely communication and the collection of documentation from interested proposers were hindered due to the increased number of non-working days, the Chairwoman pointed out. She suggested that the decision be annulled and that a new procedure be conducted in the upcoming period to ensure optimal conditions for the candidacy of all interested candidates.
It is worth noting that independent candidates resigned due to what they stated was a violation of the law during the election of REM members on December 19. Members from the ruling coalition then decided to initiate a new procedure because, as they said, "the resignations of independent candidates mean nothing."
