Four candidates have been proposed for the President of the REM Council – Dubravka Nedeljković Valić, Milan Petković, Snežana Miljković, and Miloš Garić.

Nedeljković Valić stated that after the second round of voting, she and Miloš Garić remained, both receiving four votes each.

As Nedeljković Valić explained in her address to the media, three ideas were on the table.

“The first idea was that the person with the shortest mandate, that is, one year and two months, be elected as president, while the person with a longer mandate be elected as vice president. So, colleague Garić and colleague Ira Prodanov Krajišnik,” explained Nedeljković Valić.

The second proposal was to draw two people from a drum, with the first drawn becoming president and the second vice president.

“And that the meetings be conducted on a rotational basis. One meeting would be led by the president, and the other by the vice president. This would ensure, in our opinion, the necessary consensus that should follow the negotiation process,” she added.

The third proposal was that Ira Prodanov Krajišnik be elected as president, as everyone wanted her to initially be elected as vice president. This proposal was rejected, said Nedeljković Valić, due to the length of her mandate, as the council members believed that presidents must be “quickly replaceable.”

Let us recall that at the previous two constitutive meetings, on July 20 and July 30, the president of the REM Council was not elected since neither of the two proposed candidates – Miloš Garić nor Dubravka Valić Nedeljković – received the necessary majority of six votes.

The constitutive meeting is chaired by the oldest council member, Dubravka Valić Nedeljković.

In addition to Dubravka Valić Nedeljković, the council members are Miloš Garić, Stevica Smederevac, Milan Petković, Snežana Miljković, Ira Prodanov Krajišnik, Mileva Malešić, and Rodoljub Šabić.
