Long-time journalist of "Politika" and vice president of the Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS), Olivera Milošević, has been dismissed from this daily newspaper.

Olivera Milošević worked at "Politika" for 21 years.
As she stated for the UNS website, her dismissal was officially due to an alleged violation of the non-compete clause, although, as she adds, she has never worked as a journalist outside of "Politika" since she was hired, nor can the employer provide evidence of such work.
“I believe that I have not violated anything from my Employment Contract and the Work Regulations, nor have I caused any harm to the employer. I think this is about someone’s intention to have me removed, and they were simply looking for a reason,” Milošević told UNS.
According to her, last year she received hints that she would be dismissed 'if she did not calm down', but she did not take it seriously at the time.
“Now I understand the message. They do not forgive when you do not accept to yield to political pressure, when you do not remain silent while your articles are cut, restructured, and their context changed without your consent, when you protest against a statement being issued in the name of the editorial team of which you are a part, without the journalists’ agreement... They probably do not forgive media appearances in the capacity of Vice President of UNS, or criticisms regarding such a profession,” says Milošević.
It seems that it has accumulated, she adds, and so the retaliation arrives, coldly served.
“If it were not so, after more than two decades in that house, without a single blemish and breach of work obligations, with numerous awards and recognitions, could it not have been handled differently? I am convinced that it could have. Instead, communication was conducted exclusively through mail. No one informed me in advance, nor hinted at what would happen. Everything was reduced to a rigid administrative procedure, the outcome of which will be in court,” said Milošević.
