The Culture and Information Committee has adopted the initiation of the procedure for proposing candidates for the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM).

The proposal was adopted by a majority of 12 votes from the present members of the committee, with no votes against, and one member abstained.

During its 26th session, the committee also adopted the text of the public call for the proposal for the nomination of members of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM), which will be published in the Official Gazette, the daily newspaper "Politika," and on the website of the Assembly of Serbia.

Authorized proposers are associations of journalists in the Republic of Serbia, associations of filmmakers, performing and dramatic artists, and associations of composers in the Republic of Serbia, whose goals are to achieve freedom of expression and to protect children.

Dubravka Valić Nedeljković, Rodoljub Šabić, Ira Prodanov Krajišnik, and Mileva Malešić submitted their resignations on December 19 from their positions as members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, as they stated that the government does not wish for REM to be an independent body.
