Veran Matić with the N1 team in Pioneer Park: After Vučić's resignation, only the fence and an atmosphere of violence remain.

Matić reminded on TV N1's Novi dan that the trial for the attack on Insider journalist Nataša Mijušković began yesterday, and that the accused Jelenko Pijevac was quite aggressive during the proceedings.

"He again confronted the cameraman from Insider television, asking: 'Why are you filming me? Do you have permission to film me?' Very aggressively, just as they do here when cameras appear. During his testimony, he stated that Ćacilend, or this area, is prohibited for the scum from N1 and Nova television, and upon the judge's warning, he later refrained from using that term," Matić noted in a conversation with an N1 journalist in front of an improvised camp with Vučić's supporters in Pionir Park.

He also said that the prosecutor asked Pijevac who hired him to be a steward in Ćacilend, to which the accused replied: "We, patriots, come on our own."

"What kind of patriot we’re dealing with can be seen from his biography. He has been convicted 11 times, from 1983 to 2023. Of those, I believe he has two criminal convictions in Germany. And that is, in fact, the profile of those loyalists, as Vučić called them, in this 'freest place in Europe,' as he said," stated Matić.

When asked who is responsible for the attacks in Ćacilend, Matić answered that it is the former President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

"He spoke of them as an elite, as the very top of patriotism and the cream of Serbia, the 'crème de la crème.' Even before the formation of this camp - as we might call it, a paramilitary, parapolice camp - he talked about having 17,000 loyalists who would protect him, who would be ready to give their lives for him. And that is, obviously, the profile of people here," assessed the president of ANEM.

Matić also believes that the violent rhetoric of Aleksandar Vučić, as well as that of the Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić, is being transmitted to the tabloids, and that just one day after the resignation of the President of the Republic, Vučić "again preserved Informer television, not allowing it to be included in the regular daily monitoring during the election campaign."

"He even said: 'He will not allow a majority in REM, because if there were a majority, they would immediately ban Informer the next day.' Therefore, the violence coming from this media house will continue to flood Serbia. And that violence we could see here, that daily violence, hour by hour, can be seen on Informer television and in numerous other pro-government tabloids," emphasized Matić.

Journalists in Bor attacked with an axe, and no one has been held accountable for it

He also reminded that influencer Nikola Jovanović was severely injured after a KK Partizan game in the Euroleague, after being attacked by a group of hooligans due to posts about Ratko Mladić on social media, as well as that the Mayor of Belgrade Aleksandar Šapić broke the nose of city councilor from the Kreni-promeni movement, Tatjana Mićić, last night.

"Serbia has become violent. So, this is not just a matter of this park, but for months violence has been spreading from here into the surrounding area, and it accompanies all SNS gatherings. At almost all SNS gatherings, we have restrictions on journalists' reporting, preventing journalists from covering events, and attacks on journalists. And indeed, our journalists now, when they go to events to cover elections, must prepare as if they are going to war," stated Matić.

He reminded that during the local elections in Bor, a journalistic team was attacked with an axe, which has left the victims suffering severe consequences and pain, and that no one has yet been apprehended in connection with that case.

"Even though the very attack and the attacker in the Bor area were recorded, and his car was filmed. Everything has been submitted as evidence, the most convincing possible," emphasized Matić.

When asked about the future of Ćacilend, the president of ANEM said that for marketing reasons, passing through Pionir Park would likely be allowed today, but that Vučić will find a mechanism to maintain the kind of security he has used for the past year and a half.

"So, everything being done now is for the purpose of the election campaign, and of course, a verbally different face will be presented, such as the protection of women. On the other hand, last night a woman was indeed injured by the mayor. So, we have that symbolically. The greatest amount of violence comes from here, meaning from the Presidency, while Aleksandar Vučić was here, from the Parliament, while Ana Brnabić was here, and she is still here, and from the city assembly, which Aleksandar Šapić occasionally attends," assessed Matić.

He also pointed out that Šapić's attitude towards journalists at press conferences, as well as his discrimination against N1 reporters, vividly illustrate the kind of relationship that is, in his words, absolutely unacceptable.

Ćacilend: An improvised camp full of individuals with criminal records

The tent settlement publicly known as "Ćacilend," set up on March 6, 2025, in front of the building of the Presidency of Serbia in Pionir Park, remains in place today, a year and a half later, and the park is still fenced off with metal barriers and inaccessible to citizens.

It was initially presented to the public as a gathering place for "students who want to learn," or those opposing student blockades.

However, it soon became clear that this location is not only occupied by SNS activists but also by individuals with criminal records, as detailed in reports by the investigative portal KRIK.

In addition to the 35 attacks on journalists mentioned by Veran Matić, attacks on citizens and opposition activists have also been recorded in this area.
