ANEM alarm: Police struck with a shield and seized the phone from journalist Vuk Cvijić.

During that intervention, students, university professors, lawyers, and even a former Constitutional Court judge were beaten and arrested. There was no justification for the brutal intervention in front of the Faculty of Law. According to witnesses, the police did not act in prescribed, customary formations, but rather like a furious violent mob, beating everyone in their path, especially female and male students.

The constant excessive, unauthorized use of force against non-violent citizens and journalists is unacceptable and requires the prosecution of all those who exceed their authority.

Vera Matić, President of the ANEM Managing Board and member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists

The "Violence Prevention and Journalist Protection System" project is implemented by ANEM in partnership with Insajder TV and the Center for the Development of Local Media, with the support of the European Union and the Balkan Fund for Democracy.
