ANEM ALARM: Representatives of the SNS are jeopardizing the safety of journalists from N1 television.

As reported by N1, the minister directly accused this media house of "media recruiting" V. A., who yesterday set fire to a tent and shot one person with a firearm in the so-called Ćaciland in front of the Serbian Parliament. Glišić stated on Pink TV that “the dark media kitchen of this criminal Šolak and all those who are the creators of the colored revolution has created an atmosphere where it is completely normal to kill someone who thinks differently.”

The minister accused the media operating under United Media of having "painted a target on President Vučić's forehead" over the past year, and claimed that V. A. shot yesterday to please the N1 journalists.

"He aimed to satisfy Danica Vučenić, for example, who says before the show - let’s dramatize something, let’s call for some violence, let’s invent something to provoke a new lie. There’s that reporter, I don’t know his name, (Mladen) Savatović, it doesn’t matter. He's an irrelevant character. Who says that peaceful demonstrations are completely normal, everything is fine, citizens are peacefully burning the premises of the SNS located in a residential building where 30, 40, or 50 people live," the minister pointed out.

National Assembly member from the SNS, Marjan Rističević, stated on the same media outlet that "oligarchic, illegal media" had incited terrorism, stirring up criminal acts for a year and creating a foundation for their execution.

ANEM reminds that the number of threats, pressures, and attacks on professional and critical media and journalists dramatically increased in 2025, significantly contributed to by such incendiary statements from top state officials and negative campaigns that subsequently continue in pro-government tabloids and often escalate into unpunished violence against female and male journalists.

According to the records of the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation, in September alone, representatives of the authorities verbally attacked female and male journalists 141 times, which is four more than in August. Slavko Ćuruvija himself, after whom this foundation is named, was demonized and targeted for years with almost identical lies, ultimately being killed.

We therefore appeal to representatives of the authorities to immediately cease targeting and conducting negative campaigns against critical media and journalists, as such statements can have dangerous consequences for the safety of these individuals and their families. Representatives of the authorities must be aware of their responsibility for every word spoken in public.

We also call on representatives of international organizations and the European Commission to condemn this dangerous rhetoric that is used daily against female journalists, male journalists, and dissenters.

Veran Matić, President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) and member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists

The project "System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists" is being implemented by ANEM with partners Insajder TV and the Center for the Development of Local Media, with the support of the European Union, the Balkan Fund for Democracy, and the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia.
