The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) strongly condemns yet another insult, discrediting, and labeling of the media by the highest state officials.

Responding to data from the KRIK editorial team published in their database on the assets of politicians, Minister of Public Investments Darko Glišić accused KRIK journalists on the national television channel Happy of collaborating with the Kavač clan, insulted the editor and journalists by calling them voyeurs and liars, and expressed a misogynistic attitude towards the female journalist.
KRIK explained that prior to publishing data about his assets, they contacted Glišić, but he not only refused to speak with the journalists but also blocked their phone numbers, as they state.
ANEM reminds that in recent months, the level of safety for journalists has significantly deteriorated — the number of pressures, threats, and physical attacks on media workers has increased, which is partly a consequence of this type of public discourse, increasingly coming from the highest officials.
Linking KRIK journalists to criminal groups such as the Kavač clan is unacceptable and dangerous, as it not only undermines the reputation and integrity of professional journalists but also further endangers their safety.
ANEM appeals to state officials to refrain from such accusations and insults towards journalists and editorial teams and calls on them to instead cooperate with the media by responding to their inquiries and calls before the publication of articles and reports, or, if they believe that a particular media outlet is publishing incorrect information, to use the form of a rebuttal.
