ANEM reported an attack on journalist Nikola Doderović during the election day.
The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) has filed a report with the relevant prosecutor's office regarding the intimidation and harassment of journalist Nikola Doderović from the Australian public broadcaster Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), who was pursued by a group believed to be supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) on election day in Niš. Doderović reported the attack to ANEM via the SOS hotline for reporting threats to journalists' safety, and in response to this case, the journalistic segment of the Standing Working Group on Journalist Safety (SRG), of which ANEM is a member, also reacted on Sunday, October 25.

Doderović stated that he was in the courtyard of the Primary School "Branko Miljković," where several polling stations were located, and he spoke with members of the mobile team of the Student List. At one point, he noticed a gathering of a group of unknown men who visually resembled "thugs," after which a police patrol soon arrived and identified those present. Doderović introduced himself as a journalist and showed his editorial identification.
As he noted in his report, about ten minutes later, several Audi and BMW vehicles appeared on Marina Držić Street, occupying an entire traffic lane, and loud music of the song "Ruzmarin" was heard from the cars, while Serbian flags were displayed on some of the vehicles. Between 10 and 15 men exited the vehicles and, shouting, approached the journalist and members of the mobile team, yelling "come on over here," after which they charged towards them.
As the members of the mobile team drove away, Doderović escaped through side streets and hid behind a parked van. He saw and heard that the group of people was circling around the school, assuming they were searching for them. He reported the incident to the police by phone, and according to his statements, the president of the electoral board who witnessed the event did the same.
Subsequently, Doderović recognized the license plates of some of the vehicles he had photographed earlier in photos published in the media regarding other incidents on election day. The group of men who moved through Niš in cars playing the song "Ruzmarin" and were linked to several incidents was also reported by Južne vesti, and one of the cars was spotted with SNS official Branislav Kačar.
A report regarding these events was also submitted to the police by Member of Parliament Đorđe Stanković.
ANEM warns that the intimidation and harassment of journalists while performing their professional duties represent a serious threat to safety and demands that the police and the prosecutor's office immediately take all necessary actions to determine who participated in the harassment of journalists, as well as to investigate any potential connections of this group to other incidents recorded in Niš during election day.
