Nine new members have joined ANEM.
The Board of Directors of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) made a decision at its last meeting to accept nine new members, or media outlets.
These are Glas Šumadije, Moj Novi Sad, Bečejski mozaik, Zrenjaninski.com, Razglas News, Šabačke novosti, Pravo u centar, Zabrežje, and Radio DIR.
As evaluated by the members of the ANEM Board of Directors – Veran Matić, Milorad Tadić, and Slobodan Krajnović, the new members can significantly contribute to the quality functioning of the organization as examples of professional and independent media in Serbia.
In a time when the safety of professional journalists, quality information, and media freedom are under threat, solidarity and a joint struggle to improve the conditions in which media operate today are of utmost importance.
“We are proud of the resistance of independent and professional media that have proven themselves in their professional and engaged work in the public interest. The need for media to unite lies, among other things, in the fact that journalists do not see adequate protection from institutions, making it essential for them to stand in solidarity with one another,” stated Veran Matić, President of the ANEM Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors has called on all media that respect professional and ethical standards to join ANEM in the collective fight for a better media environment in Serbia, for accountability and a state based on the rule of law.
Let us remind you that ANEM was founded in 1993 by several stations – Radio B92 and NTV Studio B from Belgrade, Radio Boom 93 from Požarevac, Radio Antena M from Podgorica, Radio Bajina Bašta from Bajina Bašta, Radio Smederevo from Smederevo, and Radio Cetinje from Cetinje. The goal was to unite isolated media, which was the first step towards dismantling the media monopoly that was under state control.
