Branislav Šovljanski takes over the management of the N1 editorial team.

“I accepted, at a moment that is particularly delicate for society as a whole, and especially for free media, to take on a leading role in the N1 newsroom, a media outlet that I have built together with my colleagues from the very beginning. I am convinced that both our audience and our critics will soon see that N1 remains committed to professional journalism, perhaps even more than before, as we face a serious and demanding period ahead. We have always performed best under pressure,” emphasized Šovljanski.

As he adds, N1 will continue to operate in the public interest, posing tough but necessary questions to decision-makers, as well as to those who wish to occupy those positions, regardless of the pressures and scrutiny that such work entails. “Our viewers can, as they have in the past, reach out to N1 when they want to highlight problems or issues of public significance. There is much work ahead of us, and we are fully focused on that.”

In a statement, Adria News Network announced that Branislav Šovljanski has been appointed to the temporary leadership position at N1.

“Branislav brings significant experience and a strong understanding of N1's editorial operations, the structure of the newsroom, and professional standards. He will be responsible for the daily functioning of the newsroom and will closely collaborate with the editorial and management teams. N1 remains committed to providing its newsroom with the leadership, structures, and support necessary to deliver quality journalism,” they stated from Adria News.

Branislav Šovljanski has been in journalism for twenty years. He has worked as a reporter, editor, host of the Daily News, desk chief, and as an executive producer at N1. He has been part of the N1 team since its inception, where he created and established most of the programs that are still broadcast on our channel.

He has edited and hosted pre-election debates, interviews with presidential candidates, as well as programs during election nights. He set standards and led teams of editors and reporters in creating the “breaking news” programming for which N1 television has become recognized.

He has reported from numerous crisis and war zones both domestically and internationally, including reporting for CNN on the floods in Obrenovac in 2014, coverage of the terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015 and 2016, the beginning of the war in Ukraine in 2022, and conflicts in the Middle East in 2023 and 2024. He was our reporter at the first inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump in 2017.

He is the author of the program “360 Degrees,” in which he conducted hundreds of interviews and debates, featuring the most prominent public figures from all spheres of social and political life over more than seven years of broadcasting.

He graduated in Journalism as part of the first generation of students in that field at the Department of Media Studies, Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad in 2009.

He is part of the team of journalists that received the New York Press Club Award in 2014 for investigative journalism.
