Physical attacks did not stop IN Media, and financial penalties won't either – solidarity from everyone is needed.

The editorial team of IN Media from Inđija has been under attack since its inception. The editor-in-chief, Verica Marinčić, has been physically assaulted multiple times. She has been targeted by motorcyclists, attacked during protests, and physically removed from the city hall of Inđija. Threats and insults are a daily occurrence. There has even been an act of desecration of her mother's grave.

Physical attacks did not stop IN Media, and financial penalties won't either – solidarity from everyone is needed.

She endured and overcame everything at a high cost to her own health and with a sense of injustice stemming from impunity. When threats and attacks failed, lawsuits with elements of SLAPP were employed, i.e., those lawsuits aimed at preventing writing about certain topics and institutions through lengthy court proceedings and high financial penalties.

Currently, IN Media is facing a series of lawsuits aimed at destroying this portal. The first ruling and a fine of 160,000 dinars hint at what the court practice will be in other cases.

For this reason, all we have left is solidarity with the editorial team. The citizens of Inđija and Serbia have already supported their media in various ways, without which they would not have basic information about what is happening in their area, in the action "We Do Not Want to Surrender."

ANEM appeals for you to join the solidarity action and the concert of rock musicians from this town, which will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 9:30 PM in the center of Inđija. In addition to musicians, students wearing badges specially designed for this event will participate in the solidarity action, along with auctions of records, artworks…

Those who are unable to attend these events in Inđija can help by contributing support to:

It is now crucial for as many of us as possible to provide material support to IN Media and Verica Marinčić.

We need reliable media that represent true public media services in local communities, which the local population trusts.

The time has come for all of us to fight for every professional journalist, editor, and editor-in-chief.

We must fight for every remaining professional media outlet that needs to survive locally, regionally, or on cable.

Therefore, it is important that everyone provides financial support to the best of their ability.

For the survival of IN Media and Verica Marinčić.

The project "System for the Prevention of Violence and Protection of Journalists" is implemented by ANEM in partnership with Insider TV and the Center for the Development of Local Media, with the support of the European Union and the Balkan Democracy Fund.
