This is about the branch of the Qatari media corporation, which has been operating in the Balkans with its headquarters in Sarajevo since 2011.
Al Jazeera Balkans has covered the regional market with offices in Belgrade, Zagreb, Podgorica, Skopje, Ljubljana, and Pristina.
Over the past 14 years, Al Jazeera Balkans has been recognized for its content related to the documentary segment. It was the first television station to broadcast programs in a language other than Arabic and English.
In 2018, Al Jazeera Balkans established AJB DOC, a documentary film festival that takes place in Sarajevo every September.
The reasons for the closure are not yet known, but it is assumed to be a business decision from Doha due to financial reasons.
