Gorica Popović and Mladen Matičević have withdrawn from the process of selecting members of the REM Council.

Film artists Gorica Popović and Mladen Matičević have withdrawn from the selection process for members of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM), film associations announced today.

Gorica Popović and Mladen Matičević have withdrawn from the process of selecting members of the REM Council.

“We firmly stand behind the decision of our prominent members, film artists Gorica Popović and Mladen Matičević, to withdraw from the selection process for the REM Council, as a clear stance against electoral irregularities and lack of transparency in the selection process of the members of this body,” stated the announcement from six associations.

Association of Film Directors of Serbia, Documentarians of Serbia, Serbian Association of Cinematographers, Association of Film Actors of Serbia, Association of Film Artists of Serbia, and Association of Screenwriters of Serbia noted that the actions of Gorica Popović and Mladen Matičević are considered “an expression of professional integrity and responsibility towards the public interest.”

Gorica Popović and Mladen Matičević were nominated for members of the REM  Council by associations of film, stage, and dramatic artists, as well as composer associations in Serbia.
