IN Media raised 240,000 dinars for defense against SLAPP lawsuits.

IN Media has, with the support of citizens and organizations, raised an additional 240,000 dinars for defense against SLAPP lawsuits, while the unusual online promotion of the book "Četres prva" by Marko Vidojković in Inđija has transformed into an event of solidarity and testimony about the pressures on independent media and authors.

With the help of citizens, foundations, associations, and groups from Stara Pazova, Sremska Mitrovica, and Inđija, IN Media managed to collect another 240,000 dinars for defense against SLAPP lawsuits. There is still 250,000 dinars needed to reach the goal.

The promotion of the book "Četres prva" by author Marko Vidojković took place tonight at Freedom Square in Inđija, marking the first online book promotion. After a decade, Vidojković had the opportunity to address the audience in Inđija, aid in raising funds for the defense of IN Media, and be a guest at the portal's birthday celebration.

During the promotion, attendees were able to donate money for defense against SLAPP lawsuits, and everyone who donated more than 1,000 dinars received a signed copy of Marko Vidojković's book as a gift. The unusual one-hour promotion was led by Veran Matić from ANEM, who also donated around 100 books from the publisher Samizdat as additional support for the fundraising effort for IN Media.

The event was attended by representatives from groups in Stara Pazova, Sremska Mitrovica, and Inđija, students from Srem, journalists, and citizens.

In non-standard conditions—an online promotion in front of the library, an author who has been out of the country for security reasons for three years, and a local media outlet facing SLAPP lawsuits—the event transcended the framework of a classic promotion and turned into a personal testimony from the author.

-I have not been in Serbia for three years; my wife and I have moved 11 times. Our safety has been threatened since 2020, and the situation escalated in 2023. The assessment was that we needed to relocate to preserve our lives. My colleague Nenad Kulačin is facing the same problems in Serbia. We have an abnormal situation where I have been hosting a show online for years, and no one asks why that is so.- said Vidojković.

He added that he started writing the book "Četres prva" in 2022, took a break, and finished it in the summer of 2025, emphasizing that he spent that period trying to mitigate the effects of constant pressures, threats, and attacks.

-This is the first such promotion in the absence of the author, with a signed book through a scanned and laminated dedication. An online promotion, a signature from a distance, and, by all accounts, the only promotion in Serbia.- Vidojković said and announced the second part of the novel "Kandže" for next summer.

Veran Matić highlighted that numerous independent and critical media share similar problems, noting that the situation resembles the 1990s.

-B92 was also banned back then, and later became a leader of change. ANEM was gathering media to strengthen and show solidarity even then. We succeeded back then, and we will succeed now. The safety of journalists and solidarity are crucial, as it is only a matter of time before someone pays with their life. In a few days, we will mark the anniversary of the murder of Slavko Ćuruvija, 27 years since the murder on Easter.- said Matić.

During the one-hour promotion, which was also an act of solidarity, IN Media celebrated its birthday at Freedom Square with citizens and raised 240,000 dinars for defense in a humanitarian atmosphere.

The campaign continues with direct payments to dinar and foreign currency accounts:

Dinar account: 105-2349723-44 Foreign currency account: 105-0595120012960-58 IBAN: RS35105059512001296058 Recipient: Epicentarus Multimedija PR Purpose of payment: Support for the local independent media

IN Media has also launched a web shop, through which citizens can further support the portal by purchasing products. A Patreon platform is also planned to be launched during the summer as another model for financing independent journalism.
