The informer politicizes the death of the student, callously publishing photographs from the investigation and personal information of the victim.

Following the death of a student from the Faculty of Philosophy, the pro-regime tabloid Informer has spent the entire morning displaying dramatic video footage and photographs of her body from the crime scene, using this tragedy to settle scores with the student movement. They are calling for the arrest of Dean Danijel Sinani and Rector Vladan Đokić, accusing them of having "bloody hands." The Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS) is appalled by such reporting and warns that the publication of photographs threatens the dignity of the victim, the privacy of her family, and disturbs the public.

The informer politicizes the death of the student, callously publishing photographs from the investigation and personal information of the victim.

Last night, a lifeless body of a female, approximately 25 years old, was discovered in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. According to a statement from the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, the student jumped from the fifth floor of the faculty after "multiple sprays and firecrackers ignited" on that floor.

Informer published photographs of the girl's body from the police investigation, as well as a video recording and other personal details revealing her identity—her name, surname, a photo of the first page of her index showing her date of birth and the department where she studied—early this morning, contrary to all ethical norms and common sense.

This tragedy has become the main topic of the program Kolegijum, where the editor-in-chief Dragan J. Vučićević read the police report on the girl's injuries and other details inappropriate for the public, claiming that he allegedly obtained this information through his GOSI service (viewing-intelligence service of Informer).

In Kolegijum, which lasted the entire morning and which Informer immediately exploited for political purposes, a segment recapping student protests was also aired, starting with the first days of blockades, street clashes, and concluding with images of the student's body.

"The protesters started with curses, then moved on to arson, shot at a man (referring to the incident in front of 'Ćacilend' on October 22, editor's note), and in the end, they killed the girl," Vučićević stated during the live broadcast. A similar rhetoric was shared by Pink, which also claims that Dean Sinani and Rector Đokić are responsible for the introduction of pyrotechnic materials.

Throughout Kolegijum, Vučićević called for the arrest of Sinani, asserting that this was a "premeditated murder." Also present in the studio was Saša Milovanović, the director of the Serbian Telegraph, who claimed that "our dead children are the result of those blockaders."

"The dead girl, that's your result," was heard in the studio. "I must repeat this sentence non-stop: Đokiću, Sinani, your hands are bloody!"

It was also suggested that Sinani should be filmed "in handcuffs, and that this footage should be broadcast on all media, locked up, and tried under expedited procedures."

The personal details of the girl were also disclosed by the member of parliament from SNS, Nebojša Bakarec, and the host from Pink, Jovana Jeremić, announced that "there will certainly be new information tomorrow" and that "the private life of that girl will be interesting."

Meanwhile, the state has intervened: the President of the Assembly, Ana Brnabić, convened an urgent meeting of the assembly committee to discuss the situation at state faculties, and the Protector of Citizens, Zoran Pašalić, initiated a procedure regarding the operations of the Faculty of Philosophy.

UNS shocked by Informer's reporting on the tragedy

The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) has stated that it is shocked by the manner in which Informer reports on the death of the student.

UNS appeals to journalists and media outlets to cease sensationalist reporting and to respect the Code of Journalists of Serbia and the Law on Public Information and Media.

UNS emphasizes that Informer, along with sensationalist headlines, by publishing photographs and recordings from the scene of the tragedy, in which the deceased girl is visible, albeit slightly blurred, endangers the dignity of the victim, the privacy of her family, and disturbs the public.

“We consider it unacceptable to blame individuals and groups for this tragedy, as both Informer and other pro-government media do in their articles today, politically instrumentalizing the suffering of the student and using it for political battles ahead of local elections,” the UNS statement reads.
