Jan Bratu: Escalation of Threats and Violence Against Journalists and Media in Serbia
The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Jan Bratu, stated that he is concerned about the escalation of threats and violence in recent weeks against certain journalists and media in Serbia.

He emphasized in a post on social media platform X that differences in political opinions can never justify threats or violence.
"I believe that the Serbian authorities will take the necessary steps to investigate and ensure accountability for all reported cases, so that media professionals can perform their work freely and safely, in accordance with the 2018 Ministerial Council decision of the OSCE on the safety of journalists. This also includes a clear commitment from the authorities to refrain from any form of intimidation, threats, or actions that could jeopardize the safety of journalists, as well as an unequivocal condemnation of all forms of violence against them," Bratu stated in his post.
