The Ministry of Information calls for dialogue and restraint due to "growing social divisions."

The call was made because the Ministry believes that the media and social division has reached a level that seriously jeopardizes the possibility of having a constructive discussion on key issues.

Minister Boris Bratina stated that the goal of the conversation between the Government of Serbia and university representatives is to continue and complete the school year, and that there is little time left for this, the Ministry reported.

“It is important for us to continue an open and constructive dialogue, as well as to reach common solutions as soon as possible,” said Bratina, adding that all significant social issues must be resolved through institutions and that any other means is “a delusion that does not lead to lasting democratic solutions.”

He added that “any talk of anarchy promoted by part of the public represents a smokescreen and an attempt to conceal the true motives – anarchy as a political idea no longer exists.”

“I urge all actors to return to institutional frameworks as soon as possible and to resolve important social issues through systematically established mechanisms,” said Bratina.

Advisor to the Minister for Public Information and Media, Miloš Garić, believes that it is very dangerous “if we allow the street to define the public interest, if we allow what is in the general interest of all of us to be defined on the street, while bypassing procedures, laws, and all those mechanisms that must be respected in such sensitive and important matters.”

“It is essential that everyone respects the procedures and that solutions are reached in a democratic and appropriate manner,” Garić added.
