The number of verbal and physical attacks on journalists in Serbia has tripled in the first five months of this year compared to last year, reports the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia. Both they and international organizations warn that the circle of independent media is shrinking and appeal to the authorities, as well as the European Union, to protect free speech in Serbia.
