NUNS and UNS condemned the intimidation and threats against the editorial team of A1tv.net.

Radetinac recorded cracks on the bridge in Novi Pazar, which was recently repaired, and published the footage on the Facebook page of the portal A1tv.net. Durević then commented under the post, sharing a video that first shows workers repairing a hole in the new asphalt. In that video, threats are heard directed at the journalist, as well as a misogynistic comment aimed at a female colleague, while at one point Durević is seen turning the camera towards himself and "blowing a kiss," seemingly in this context, to the editorial team of A1tv.net.

The video captures one of the workers saying: "I would hit that guy with the shovel over there who is filming, f***. He was filming us for A1… I almost caught that colleague."

NUNS condemns the expressed threat and demands that the competent prosecutor's office investigate all circumstances of this case and determine the identity of the person who made it. We also condemn the misogynistic comment and expect the Directorate to establish accountability among its employees and initiate appropriate disciplinary proceedings.

"What is particularly concerning is that Durević published the video containing offensive and threatening messages and then, with a gesture directed at the editorial team, further contributed to an atmosphere of mockery and intimidation. We call on him to publicly apologize to Enes Radetinac and the editorial team of A1tv.net," states the NUNS press release.

NUNS adds that representatives of public institutions are obliged to communicate with journalists in a professional, polite manner, and with respect for their role in informing the public. If the goal was to inform the editorial team that the problem with the bridge had been addressed, Durević could have done so through official channels, without threats, insults, and inappropriate comments.

"Reporting on the state of public infrastructure is undoubtedly a matter of public interest. Journalists should not be subjected to threats, humiliation, or intimidation for such work," emphasize NUNS.

The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) protests against the threats and misogynistic comments directed at the editorial team of the A1tv.net portal from Novi Pazar and condemns the inappropriate actions of Sulejman Durević, the Head of the Urban Construction Land Sector at the Directorate for the Construction of the City of Novi Pazar.

As Radetinac said today for UNS, after the editorial team published information about this case, Durević wrote in a new comment on Facebook: "If you are afraid of a kiss, then die of fear."

"Yesterday's threat has been reported to the authorities. We are especially concerned about the misogynistic comment directed at our colleague. She was with me while I was filming the hole, so the second part of the recording refers to her," said Radetinac.

UNS calls on the authorities to ascertain the identity of the person who issued the threat and urges the Directorate for the Construction of the City of Novi Pazar to determine the accountability of its employees and punish them according to the law.

UNS also emphasizes that by publishing the footage containing the threat and "sending a kiss," along with continuing inappropriate communication, Durević further contributed to the intimidation of the editorial team and calls on the Directorate to determine the responsibility of its Head of the Construction Land Sector in this case.

UNS reminds that it is the job of journalists to report on matters of public interest, and this was undoubtedly one of them, calling on representatives of institutions to treat journalists professionally and with dignity.
