The Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) strongly condemns the new threats directed at the editorial staff of the Radar portal, which were left in the form of comments on the website, and which represent a serious threat to the safety of journalists and an attempt to intimidate the editorial team due to its work in the public interest.

The comments left last night by the user named “Milorad5,” who has been negatively commenting on the articles of this media outlet for some time, contain elements of threats of violence and dangerous insinuations.

User Milorad5 wrote: “And again the radar detects only clouds, although it was designed for airplanes. What a circus group you are, guys, but now you will see what a circus really is.”

The second comment he left reads: “Hey workers, I wouldn’t mess with the sheikhs, they have a short fuse. After this, I’m sure you will regret your long muddy tongue, and that for SMALL MONEY—not for your little money that you receive, but for small money, there are subcontractors as many as you want, so to speak kamikazes. You’re unrealistically stupid.”

These threats were made regarding two articles published this morning, and the editorial team of Radar immediately reported them to the Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime. We remind you that this is not the first time the editorial team of Radar has faced threats, and it is additionally concerning that previous reports have not resulted in the identification and prosecution of those responsible, under the pretext that it is difficult to identify the perpetrators due to technical challenges related to IP addresses.

NUNS reminds that the state is obligated to ensure the protection of journalists and that no threat directed at journalists should go unanswered.

We call on the Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime to act urgently on the report, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to take all necessary measures in cooperation with the relevant institutions to uncover the identity of the person behind these threats. We also insist that any form of intimidation against journalists be treated with the utmost seriousness, as attacks on journalists represent attacks on freedom of expression and the public's right to be informed.
