"Pančevo, have you collected the funds for the payment of court costs?"
The editorial team of the Pančevo Si Ti portal expressed gratitude to the citizens who, over the past four days, made donations to the bank account of the civil association *Građanska akcija Pančevo*, the founder of this media outlet, to cover the costs of the legal proceedings initiated against them by the media worker from Vršac, Aleksandar Čupić.
"Thank you to everyone for their financial contributions, but even more so, we feel and owe our gratitude for the mutuality and solidarity that the donors have shown towards our site, enabling us to continue working in the public interest and for the common good," stated the editorial board in a press release.
From Thursday, January 15, when the donation campaign was launched, until Sunday, January 18, 105 individuals contributed a total of 265,568.42 dinars, which is more than the 213,800 dinars that were needed.
"In the hope that there will no longer be any condemning court rulings against our editorial board, we will use the surplus for the same purposes for which we called upon the democratic public to assist us - the remainder of just over 50,000 dinars will be preserved in a kind of fund from which we will support independent, free, and professional media if they become victims of SLAPP lawsuits," stated representatives from Pančevo Si Ti.
