Death threats against journalists from the "Autonomija" portal, NDNV, and ANEM demand an urgent investigation

A message has arrived on the official Facebook page of the portal from a person who identifies themselves on the social network as Dobrica Ristić.

In the attached message, the author refers to journalists as "communist bastards" and states that "everyone will receive a reward of two 9.2 mm" – a clear allusion to firearms and liquidation.

The threat was issued after the Autonomije portal reported all day on the incidents during the opening of the exhibition in Bački Petrovac, as well as on the conflict between Liman citizens and perpetrators who are destroying their public property.

NDNV, in collaboration with the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), immediately reported the threat to the relevant prosecutor's office, demanding an urgent response and investigation, including the identification and prosecution of the person who issued it.

“Such messages can no longer be viewed in isolation – they are part of a broader atmosphere of unpunished violence, fueled by years of tolerating incitement and politically motivated attacks on free media,” stated NDNV.

NDNV reminds that Serbia, according to all relevant international indices of media freedom, is in a deep decline, and the impunity for threats and attacks on journalists only encourages new perpetrators.

“We demand that institutions treat such threats as a serious attack on the safety of citizens and the democratic order, and that the practice of tolerating violent rhetoric and calls for the liquidation of any citizen of Serbia be terminated,” states the announcement from the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina.
