A new competition has been announced for the position of General Director of RTS.

As stated in the competition published on the RTS website and in the daily newspaper Politika, candidates must be citizens of Serbia, have residence in Serbia, possess a university degree, and have at least ten years of work experience in managerial programming or other positions at providers of media services for radio and television, or in managerial roles in other areas relevant to the operations of the public media service.

In addition to proof of meeting the conditions, candidates must also submit a work and management program for RTS for the duration of the appointment, evidence that no criminal proceedings are pending against them, evidence that the individual has not been convicted, and a signed statement confirming that they do not hold a public office or a position in a political party.

The term for the General Director is five years, and an individual may be appointed as General Director a maximum of two times.

An individual who cannot be a member of the Board of Directors, except for employees of media service providers, cannot be appointed as General Director, as stated in the text of the competition.

The deadline for candidate applications is 30 days from the date of publication of the public competition in the “Official Gazette” of the Republic of Serbia, in one daily newspaper, and on the RTS website.

The Board of Directors of the Public Media Institution Radio-Television of Serbia will appoint the General Director of Radio-Television of Serbia within 45 days from the opening of applications for the competition, in accordance with the applicable Regulations on the procedure and conditions for the appointment of designated individuals.

Candidates will be notified of the results of the public competition within 8 days from the date of the decision on the selection.

It is worth noting that in the first competition, only three candidates met the requirements - the President of the Board of Directors of RTS, Branislav Klanšćek, Dejan Stanković, and Stanislav Veljković, but none were selected as no candidate received a two-thirds majority of votes from the members of the Board of Directors of RTS.

The current director of RTS, Dragan Bujošević, will complete his second five-year term on February 2, and he can no longer be elected to this position nor appointed to serve in an interim acting status.
