Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS) announced today a competition for the appointment of the editor-in-chief of the news program of the public media service for a period of four years, as reported in the newspaper Politika.

RTS stated in the advertisement that the candidate must be a prominent media expert with proven exceptional results in television activities, as well as having at least seven years of work experience in editorial positions.

Potential candidates must be familiar with the technologies for the production, provision, and transmission of audio and audiovisual media services, multimedia content, and electronic publication services, the advertisement adds.

Candidates are also required to possess organizational and professional skills demonstrated in their previous work, as well as proof that they do not hold a public office or a position in a political party.

The application conditions state that the candidate must have Serbian citizenship and residence in Serbia, as well as hold a higher education degree or a completed master's degree, and must be proficient in at least one foreign language.

The application deadline is 30 days from the date the competition is published in the Politika newspaper, the Official Gazette, and on the RTS website, and the general director will appoint the editor-in-chief of the news program within 45 days from the opening of applications for the competition, following interviews with candidates.

If the decision on the appointment is not made within that timeframe, as stated in the advertisement, a new competition will be announced.

The position of acting editor-in-chief of the RTS news program is currently held by Bojana Mlađenović, who has also been appointed as the acting responsible editor of the First Program of the television.

Nenad Lj. Stefanović held the position of editor-in-chief and responsible editor of the RTS news program until February 14, having left this position after 21 years upon the expiration of his term.
