The situation in the media in Serbia has significantly worsened during the ongoing political crisis this year, as highlighted in the new report from the Reuters Institute "Digital News Report" for 2026.

In Serbia, only one in five trusts the media: The highest level of trust is in N1, while the greatest level of distrust is in Informer.

When it comes to trust in the media, it is in constant decline, with this year's report indicating that only 22 percent of citizens have trust in the media in Serbia, compared to 37 percent at the global level.

According to the data from this research, citizens of Serbia have the most trust in N1 - as much as 52 percent, followed by Nova S with 47 percent, and the weekly Vreme with 43 percent.

At the top of the list of media in which the public does not have trust this year is Informer, which 64 percent of respondents do not trust, followed by Pink with 63 percent, and Kurir and Hepi with 57 percent of those lacking trust in them.

The audience in Serbia primarily gets information through social media (64 percent), followed by informative media portals (57 percent). Television is the source of information for 51 percent of respondents, while radio accounts for 19 percent, and printed media stands at 16 percent.

Regarding traditional media (television, radio, and print), the research shows that the audience most frequently gets informed from RTS and N1 television stations, with identical percentages, followed by TV Nova, Blic, and TV Pink.

As for online media, the N1 portal ranks first in terms of information selection, followed by the portals Blic, Telegraf.rs, Nova.rs, and Danas.

In terms of social media, the most common source of information in Serbia is Facebook at 50 percent, followed by YouTube at 41 percent, Instagram at 40 percent, while 24 percent of the audience gets informed on TikTok, and 22 percent via Viber.
