UNS and NUNS invite you to the event "Stop the Persecution of Journalists" on Friday, June 20, at the Press Center of UNS.

The dismissal of the well-known TV host Marija Šehić from Euronews Serbia, due to "irresponsible or negligent performance of work duties" and "violations of workplace discipline," followed the demotion and mutual departure of several others who did not wish to work in this media outlet under the newly imposed conditions.

In the editorial office of "Večernje novosti," experienced journalist of the Society and Culture sections Vojislava Crnjanski Spasojević quickly became a "technological surplus" after publicly protesting the publication of personal data of students in the online edition of this media.

At "Politika," after two or three decades, editor of the Chronicle Dorotea Čarnić and editor of the Weekend edition Sandra Gucijan have also become "technological surpluses," having expressed their personal views regarding the student protests on their private social media profiles.

The editor of the online edition of Elle for Serbia, Tara Đukić, opposed the removal of a published article about students. The publisher, Mondo Inc, publicly justified the dismissal by stating that "the web editor did not meet the plans" and that there was a "significant decline in business parameters" in her area of responsibility.

We stand against the harshest pressures on female and male journalists who do their jobs professionally, against the abuse of media, and due to the disrespect of the Law on Public Information and Media, which guarantees that a journalist cannot have their employment terminated or their salary or compensation reduced for expressing a personal opinion.

At the gathering "Stop the Persecution of Journalists" on Friday, June 20, at 12 PM, at the Press Center of UNS, Knez Mihailova 6/3, journalists who have been dismissed, representatives of journalistic and media associations, union representatives, and lawyers will speak.
